Pain
Relief
Huntington Hospital’s
Center for Pain Treatment is a unique, multidisciplinary program
that offers the diagnosis and treatment of cancer
related pain. Depending on the specific type
of pain, an individualized treatment program
is developed and specific medical objectives
are pursued to help patients achieve a more productive,
comfortable lifestyle. Cancer pain is most often
managed with the latest and most effective pain
medications, nerve blocks, epidural infusion,
and pain pumps. The ultimate goal is always to
improve the cancer patient’s quality of
life.
Intrathecal
Pumps
The intrathecal pump is an implantable pain
medication pump which is an effective tool in
providing pain relief for cancer patients. It
delivers the highest concentration of medication
directly to the painful areas. Highly effective,
intrathecal pumps reduce medication side effects,
allow for early rehabilitation, and often prevent
the need for hospitalization.
