Overview
of Cardiology Services
Huntington Hospital offers a full spectrum of advanced cardiac diagnostic testing and intervention in our dedicated Cardiac Services Unit. This comprehensive program, which occupies an attractive, newly expanded third floor wing, is the result of a highly successful collaboration among our skilled cardiologists, Huntington Hospital, the North Shore –Long Island Jewish Health System, and community philanthropy, particularly that of the Mariani family.
Due to the increased need for cardiac services in the Huntington community, an additional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory as well as an additional Electrophysiology Laboratory will be added to the Cardiology Center by the end of this year.
Because the Cardiology Center’s team of dedicated professionals understands the importance of immediate response, patients experiencing a heart attack are treated within minutes of their arrival to the Emergency Department. Due to this diligence, the hospital’s mortality rate for primary angioplasty (cardiac catheterization) on patients who have experienced a heart attack is 1.25%, well below the national level of 4%, surpassing other major hospitals.
One Family's Experience
“My husband Richard entered the emergency room in tremendous pain and pale white,” said Lucy Wojcicki of Centerport. “My children and I watched in horror as he suffered a heart attack. I don’t think it was even an hour from his time of arrival at the hospital until he was having a stent placed into his artery. He came out of the procedure pain free and his joy for life back in his face. I was so impressed with the care my husband received at Huntington Hospital. I can never thank the staff enough for giving us the gift we received that day. I know it was this emergency cardiac intervention that saved his life.” Click here for full
