POSITION: CODER/ANALYST
HOURS: Part Time - 30 hours per week
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Satisfactory completion of an approved ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding course. RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P or RN certification preferred.
DESCRIPTION: The Coder/Analyst is primarily responsible for the coding of Emergency Room records. The Coder/Analyst reviews the ER record for documentation to support the assignment of appropriate ICD-9, CPT and Evaluation and Management codes based on established guidelines. Responsibilities include the use of an encoder to assure that only valid ICD/CPT codes are assigned. Codes are then entered into the billing and/or medical record computer applications.
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Satisfactory completion of an approved ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding course. Strong background in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology required. RHIT, RHIA, CCS or RN certification preferred. Good Customer Service skills are a must.
