POSITION: DRG REVIEWER
HOURS: Full - Time
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved ICD-9CM coding course required. RHIT, RHIA, CCS certification required.
DESCRIPTION: The DRG Reviewer is primarily responsible for the review of inpatient medical record documentation to assure proper DRG assignment. The DRG Reviewer is also responsible for the validation of the POA status associated with every coded diagnosis assigned as well as the discharge disposition. The Reviewer will also be responsible for responding to DRG reassignments that are received from third party payers. The DRG Reviewer works closely with the Coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement staff.
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved ICD-9-CM coding course. Strong background in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology required RHIT, RHIA, CCS are also required. Minimum of 2 years experience in DRG assignment in acute care setting. Candidates should also possess a working knowledge of both the MS-DRG and AP-DRG reimbursement systems. Good Customer Service skills are a must.
