Ground Floor
As a New York State designated Stroke Center and
Level 2 Area Trauma Center, Huntington Hospital offers
its Emergency Department nursing staff a diverse
and challenging experience in acute care. The Emergency
Department nurse serves all patients’ needs
through primary nursing care and rotates through
all clinical areas within the department including
triage, trauma, psychiatry, pediatrics, gynecology
and acute medicine.
The Emergency Department offers the registered nurse
the opportunity to make independent decisions and be
part of a dynamic team that treats a wide variety of
patients and conditions. Emergency Department
nurses are highly motivated and work collaboratively
with physicians. Continuing education is provided
for nurses to become certified in Advanced Cardiac
Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma
Nursing, and for the development and maintenance of
advanced assessment skills.
