EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Ground Floor

As a New York State designated Stroke Center and Level 2 Area Trauma Center, Huntington Hospital offers its Emergency Department nursing staff a diverse and challenging experience in acute care. The Emergency Department nurse serves all patients’ needs through primary nursing care and rotates through all clinical areas within the department including triage, trauma, psychiatry, pediatrics, gynecology and acute medicine.

The Emergency Department offers the registered nurse the opportunity to make independent decisions and be part of a dynamic team that treats a wide variety of patients and conditions.  Emergency Department nurses are highly motivated and work collaboratively with physicians.  Continuing education is provided for nurses to become certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing, and for the development and maintenance of advanced assessment skills.
