OPERATING ROOMS
4th Floor Perioperative Suite

Huntington Hospital’s Surgical Services Pavilion is a dedicated surgical area with an emphasis on patient comfort and convenience. It includes twelve state-of-the-art surgical suites located in close proximity to the Ambulatory Surgery Unit and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

The highly skilled and professional OR staff includes Registered Nurses and Certified Surgical Technicians.   Many of the nurses are certified in operating room nursing as well (CNOR).

Computerization throughout the perioperative areas helps the nursing staff move patients along in an efficient and safe manner. Nurses keep track of the activities, equipment, and staffing needs of each of the operating rooms via a sophisticated video monitoring system.  Huntington Hospital is designated as a Center for Orthopedic Excellence and the OR meets the demands of a very busy orthopedic service with skilled staff and the latest in equipment.  The OR has all the latest in technology to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures as well as sophisticated spine surgery.  Other services provided include plastic surgery, general surgery, ear/nose/throat surgery, eye surgery as well as gynecologic and urologic surgeries.

A priority of the nursing staff is to maintain an open line of communication with family members. The Surgical Waiting Room, also on the 4th floor, is equipped with a large screen display that, while guaranteeing patient confidentiality, enables family members to track the progress of the patient through the perioperative areas. Beepers are also available from hospital volunteers stationed in the Surgical Waiting Room, which allow family members to move around the hospital, but still be available to speak to the surgeon when the procedure is completed.
