POST ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT
4 FLOOR

operating

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is located in the hospital’s perioperative suite along with the Ambulatory Surgery Unit and the Operating Rooms. It is a modern, newly built, 18-bed unit consisting of four separate rooms.

PACU nurses are experienced and educated in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Many staff members are certified in Peri-Anesthesia Nursing as well. Huntington is one of the few hospitals which has bedside electronic patient charting. PACU nurses are well-trained in the use of this modern technology for closely monitoring patients.

Families wait for their loved ones on the same floor in a comfortable, spacious waiting room.  Assisted by hospital volunteers, the nurses maintain an open line of communication with family members. Beepers are provided to family members who need to leave the waiting area, but wish to be contacted with updated information on their family member having surgery.
