Encouraging
our community’s young people to experience philanthropy
and to gain a sense of satisfaction by embracing the
concept of “giving back” by supporting their
local hospital.
Fundraising Basics
While we encourage individual
groups to select or design a fundraising activity that
works best for them, there are a few basic conditions
that we ask all groups to observe:
- Students should never solicit
donations by going door-to-door or approaching strangers.
- We ask that you please discuss
your fundraising plans with a member of the hospital’s
Development Office prior to beginning your activity.
This will ensure that there are no conflicts with
other groups holding similar events, and also permit
us to assist and support you in your efforts.
- Events should comply with
standards of good taste and decorum, as well as good
health and safety.
- Most importantly, students
should have fun! This is the bestway for them to learn
that giving back to the community feels good.

What is Kids For Kids?
Kids For Kids is a way for young
people in and around Huntington Township to learn about
the importance of philanthropy, appreciate the value
of their local hospital as a healthcare resource, and
contribute in a meaningful way to the improvement of
healthcare in their own community. The program is designed
to be flexible, allowing individual classrooms, entire
school buildings, faith based youth groups, or scout
troops to participate in whatever manner works best
for them. A project may be adopted by a special interest
club or an entire school district.
Where will the Money
Go?
Huntington Hospital is a not-for-profit
facility that has been meeting the healthcare needs
of the local community since it opened its doors in
1916. Countless generations of local families have delivered
their children here; thousands of Huntington area residents
continue to rely on the expertise of Huntington Hospital’s
skilled staff and advanced diagnostic and treatment
programs, and the Emergency Department is open 24 hours
a day, seven days a week to provide expert care to more
than 43,000 men, women and children annually. In addition,
Huntington Hospital owns and operates the Dolan Family
Health Center, Long Island’s only charitably supported,
hospital owned, freestanding clinic for the uninsured
and medically needy. Each year, more than 7,000 local
children visit the Dolan Center for their annual check-ups,
immunizations, treatment of illness, and management
of chronic health problems such as asthma and diabetes.
Donations made through the Kids For Kids program may
be designated to a number of vital hospital areas, where
they will directly impact on patient care activities.
Gifts may be used to support the Pediatric Department
at the Dolan Family Health Center, or the Clark
Gillies Pediatric Unit at Huntington Hospital.
Donations may also be earmarked for the pediatric section
of Huntington Hospital’s Emergency Department.
Funds mayalso be designated toward any other hospital
initiative of your choice.
