Kids for Kids

Kids for Kids, one of Huntington Hospital’s newest initiatives, is a program that encourages young people in and around Huntington Township to learn about the importance of philanthropy, appreciate the value of their local hospital as a healthcare resource and contribute in a meaningful way to the improvement of healthcare in their own community. With approximately 800 local children relying on Huntington Hospital for high quality medical care each year, the Kids for Kids program connects Huntington’s young people with an organization that touches their lives and those of their friends and families.

This program is designed to be flexible, allowing individual classrooms, entire student bodies, faith based youth groups, or scout troops to br participate in whatever manner works best for them.

Participants this year have included the Harborfields High School teachers and staff; East Woods School Student Council; Dix Hills Jewish Center; and CW Post students, among others.

To get started or for more information please call Suzanne Beck, Development Associate at (631) 351- 7040 x102 or via email at sbeck@hunthosp.org

Harborfields High School teacher Craig Butler (right) and principal David Bennardo (left), on behalf of the United Teachers of Harborfields, presents Huntington Hospital representative Suzanne Beck (center) with a check for $750 for the hospital’s Clark Gillies Pediatric Unit. On paydays, the United Teachers of Harborfields, in collaboration with the faculty, staff and administration of the Harborfields School District, sponsor “Jeans for a Cause,” in which employees make a cash donation toward a charity and wear their best jeans to work along with a badge that reads: “I’m wearing Jeans for a Cause.”

Suzanne Beck (left) thanked Ricky Tadmore, Principal of the Dix Hills Jewish Center Religious School, and students from the school’s Dalet and Vav classes who participated in recent fundraising events to benefit the Kids for Kids Program. Students donated more than $1,000 that
they raised through a walk-a-thon, car wash, and other activities.

Martine M. Tawaji, Director of Community Service, East Woods School (right), along with the East Woods Student Council, made a $200 donation to hospital Development Associate Suzanne Beck (left). The students held a series of fundraising events to benefit the pediatric department at the Dolan Family Health Center. They hope to raise $1,000 toward this project by the end of the school year.
