The
latest generation of magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI) technology has come to Huntington Hospital.
While MRI technology has been in existence for
20 years, recent improvements have made the examination
more comfortable and convenient for patients. Huntington
Hospital’s MRI machine incorporates the latest
advances such as audio-comfort technology to provide
for a quieter examination. In addition, the machine
permits feet-first examinations for nearly all
procedures, reducing patient anxiety due to claustrophobia.
 “
Our unit includes the latest software to shorten
the duration of the examination, further improving
patient comfort,” said Carlos Sandoval,
Huntington’s chief MRI technologist.
MRI obtains images by creating a powerful magnetic
field. Magnetism is measured in units known as
tesla. Huntington’s MRI uses a 1.5 tesla
superconductive magnetic system, which is 30,000
times more powerful than the earth’s magnetic
field. A wide variety of MRI studies will be available,
including neurological, orthopaedic, body, and
vascular imaging.
Huntington’s MRI Unit offers patients separate,
dedicated registration and waiting areas. For additional
information or to schedule an appointment, please
