STEREOTACTIC,
MAMMOTOME, AND ULTRASOUND-GUIDED BREAST BIOPSIES
For many women, computer-guided needle
biopsy for obtaining the tissue sample needed for
diagnosis is now an alternative to surgical biopsy
and hospital admission. Computer-guided needle
biopsy is performed by a radiologist in consultation
with your physician and is done on an outpatient
basis. This enables patients to go home the same
day. Stereotactic, mammotome, and ultrasound-guided
needle biopsies are an important advance for women
as they are less painful, do not create significant
scarring, and allow for a rapid return to normal
activity.
Biopsy results are available within
24 business hours. If further treatment is needed,
our staff can help with presurgical education and
counseling. We will be with you every step of the
way.
