The
Women's Health Center provides nutritional counseling
for women with special nutritional needs, including
pregnant women.
A number of physical conditions may precipitate
a woman's need for expertise regarding nutrition.
They include:
Pregnancy-related
conditions
- pre-pregnancy weight of greater
than 10 percent underweight or 20 percent overweight
compared with standard weight for height tables
- low or excessive weight gain during
pregnancy
- a history of multiple births,
short intervals between births, gestational
diabetes or many previous births
Our nutritional counseling services
are provided by a registered dietitian who will
assess your present nutritional intake. Once
an assessment is made, she will work with you
to set specific goals and develop a nutritional
plan consistent with your needs. Patients' goals
vary. Over time, the
dietitian will monitor your response to care
and reevaluate your nutritional needs.
