Would you like to volunteer as little as three hours
a week among people from all walks of life, of all
backgrounds and talents, helping others and your community?
Then becoming a Huntington
Hospital Vounteer could
be just the ticket for you!
Volunteer
Opportunities
As a volunteer, you would
be not only an integral and valuable component of
the hospital's staff, but often a source of comfort
and cheer to those who are caught in the lonely experience
of hospitalization.
In 1917, 130 local women formed
a "Woman's Auxiliary"
at Huntington Hospital, performing many seemingly
small tasks designed to lighten the load for the
hospital staff. Over time, the name of the organization
was changed, men and juniors joined the roster, and
service expanded. But the sense of dedication and
purpose has remained the same. And now, as then,
a willingness to help is more important than an abundance
of time.
If you have a few hours, a sense
of professionalism, and the ability to work well
with others, you fit the volunteer profile.
You'll find a comprehensive list of service choices.
Are you an "up front" person? There's a
service for you. Rather work behind the scenes? There's
a service for you. Choose from reception, wings,
emergency department, nursing unit, Dolan Family
Health Center, dietary, pharmacy, Women's Health
Center, x-ray department, gift shop, mail service,
magazines and books, baby photo, and thrift shop.
Red hot right now are plans for the newest lobby
service where volunteers will combine a warm friendly
greeting with assistance to discharged patients leaving
the hospital. Everyone from student to retiree will
be welcome for this new service. Incidentally, men
are always valued volunteers,
particularly in services involving wheelchair assistance.
Information sessions are held on
the first Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. in
the One-South Conference Room on the main floor.

you feel good! Come on down!
